C is for Caboz

Caboz is one of my favorite of Michael's mispronunciations.  He has said 'caboz' since he started talking instead of the word 'because'.  It is pronounced /kuh/ /boz/. The 'o' is pronounced as a short o (i dont know how to create that marking) I love it so much, I let it go on way longer than I should.  The thing is, he has such an advanced vocabulary,  that hearing the word becoz helped me remember how old he truly is/was.  Very recently, he said the word and I felt a little pinch of guilt, so I opened my mouth to tell him the word was really 'because' and he looked at me (I'm pretty sure he would have rolled his eyes if he were a little older).  His exact words were, "I know the word is really because its just caboz I have said caboz for so long that it comes out of my mouth instead of because."

He makes my heart so happy!  As happy as a boy at a bakery who can pick out anything he wants!

  1. It is so sad when our little ones become too old to continue saying the cute things they said when they were really little.

    1. Right Tamara, I used to tell my son, "I miss you". And when he said, "But am here, mum." I told him I miss him as him all the years before now. I now think I know why couple has more kids, because to keep having the young ones.

Crystal, it is a beautiful writing about your boy. I love Michael as a name too ;)

  2. And it is those mispronunciations that you will remember long after he is grown. My boy always said "tomorno" for tomorrow - and I never corrected him.

  4. Nice post. Kids bring so much joy : ) Glad to hear you are loving being a parent--it seems like more and more people are thinking less of the role.

  5. Beautiful! Your little boy's "caboz" reminded me of similar delightful things my son used to say, 25+ years ago now. I remember him saying "pipartment" instead of apartment, "pipellant" for (mosquito) repellant, "Mij" for our friend Jim, and "Peej" for Jeep. He was obsessed with busses, and his favorite was the double-decker bus, which he used to call "badooda"--go figure! Thank you for your post.

  6. I love vie hearing others stories! One of the reasons I chose caboz for the A to Z challenge is to preserve the memory!
